Tyrrell wins Heritage Award

“A fair can be a journey into the past, but I see a visit to a fair as a trip to the future.”  This vision helped Ken Tyrrell, Serena, be honored at the recent IAFE Convention in Las Vegas as one of only five Heritage Award winners in all of North America.  This award is presented annually to individuals who excel in volunteerism at the highest possible level with their fairs, their community and the fair industry. This is Ken Tyrrell’s standard as he serves on the Sandwich Fair’s board of directors and as the LaSalle County Junior Fair President.  Ken is always willing to do any job at both fairs.   He was recently elected as the IAAF Northern Zone President and has been very active with legislative matters facing the Illinois fair industry.

Tyrrell joins other Illinois recipients of the Heritage award including: Marvin Perzee of Iroquois County Fair, Bill Fugate of the Fairbury Fair, Ron Engstrom of the Rock Island Fair, and Tom Schahrer of the Livingston County 4-H Fair.
